There was an Aussie Food Fair @ Jusco two weeks ago and it was good because it was in time of our weekly grocery trip to that mall. Upon seeing all the goods on offer, both Hubby and I were filled with so much joy and excitement and quickly switched to the "panic-buying mode". And why not? For a limited time, some of the brands that we used to love and buy in Australia were there. There were different brands of olive oil manufactured in Australia, herbs, spices and seasonings, chocolate drinks in small tin cans, oatmeals and mueslis and some dairy products as well. We quickly went on gathering San Remo pastas and sauces, Masterfoods seasonings and some Flora dairy products (not in photo) because we happen to like them the most.

The result... our final grocery bill was double the amount that we usually pay on a weekly basis!

I will never forget our first short holiday in Victoria. It was the Labor Day weekend in 2007 when our very good Manager, David, invited Hubby and myself to go with his family to the Mornington Peninsula. His brother-in-law, Calvin, has a holiday home in Rye and they will be spending the weekend there with him. We've only been in Melbourne for 2 months then.

The day was packed with lots of activities for us since Hubby and I will only be staying there for 1 night. The boys went swimming in the back beach, which is the beach facing the ocean. Hubby and I got to climb on the lookout point which is on top of a hill, we went to the Point Nepean National Park and climbed all the way to the topmost portion where we can see "The Heads" as it is called and watched ships make their way into Melbourne. David also took us to see the town of Portsea and we also went window shopping in the Sorrento Village. Sorrento Village was so cute but unfortunately, I wasn't able to take any photos. Lesson learned.

Finally, we had pizza for dinner. Hubby and I ordered a Marinara pizza which is a seafood pizza and which up to this date is still the best-tasting seafood pizza I've ever had. It had fresh squid, oysters, mussels, shrimp and anchovies with a generous sprinkling of parmesan cheese. Again, no photo taken. Another lesson learned. Aww!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm not much of a steak lover but out of all the steaks I have sampled, the Koolix stone-grilled steaks have been the best so far. The steaks are served sizzling on top of a 400-degree hot stone with your choice of side dishes (chips, garden salad or steamed veggies). Cooking time and doneness will depend on you then because you will be cooking your own steak.  

Koolix Kafe is a small cafe located in the picturesque town of Warrnambool (part of The Great Ocean Road) in Western Victoria, Australia. They have an unassuming facade but once you're inside the restaurant and have sampled their dishes, you will be coming back for more. They also have very good coffees and cakes to complete the whole gastronomic experience.
